Vikarabad or Vicarabad is a town and municipality in Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh in India. It was named after the forth Amir of Paigah, Vikar, prime minister of Hyderabad and Berar (this F Vikar ul umra also included his private estate). The city is well connected by railroad and has Vikarabad Junction where the railway line coming from Hyderabad/Secunderabad Junction bifurcates towards Pune/Mumbai via Wadi Junction. The other line goes to Parli Vaijnath (a Jyotirlinga Centre) in Maharashtra and further on to Parbhani in Maharashtra. Its climate was famous during the princely era with Vikar Manzil Palace being a summer retreat of the Nawab (Begumpet railway station was specially constructed by Sir Vikar within his Begumpet Paigah palace conglomerate for his travel to Vikarabad). But sadly, now deforestation has deprived this city and Taluka of its ecological pre-eminence. Ananthagiri Hills is very beautiful forest location near by Vikarabad.
