Tiberias ( /taɪˈbɪəriəs/; Hebrew: , Tverya, Tiveria (audio) ; Arabic: طبرية, Ṭabariyyah) is a city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee (also called the Kinneret), Lower Galilee, Israel. Established in 20 CE, it was named in honour of the emperor Tiberius.
