Thurles ( /ˈθɜrlɛs/ or local /ˈtɜrləs/; Irish: Durlas or Durlas Éile, meaning "strong fort of Éile") is the second-largest town in North Tipperary, Ireland. It is a civil parish in the historical barony of Eliogarty and is also an ecclesiastical parish in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly. It is the site of the diocesan cathedral.
