Takab (Persian: تكاب‎; Kurdish: تکاو; and Azeri: تیکان تپه; also Romanized as Takāb; also known as Takan Tepe) is a city in and the capital of Takab County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 43,702, in 10,078 families. Its ancient name was Shiz. The main spoken languages are Kurdish and Azeri.
