Ségou (Seku, Segu) is a city in south-central Mali, lying 235 kilometres (146 mi) northeast of Bamako on the River Niger, in the region of Ségou. It was founded by the Bozo people, on a site about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the present town. With 130,690 inhabitants in 2009, it is the fifth-largest city in Mali.
