Letterkenny (from the Irish: Leitir Ceanainn), with a population of 19,588, is the largest town in County Donegal in Ireland. It is also the largest urban centre in the north-west of the country. Located on the River Swilly in east Donegal, the town, along with the nearby city of Derry, forms the major economic core of the north-west of the island of Ireland.
