Qajaran (Armenian: Քաջարան [kʰɑdʒɑˈɾɑn]; also Romanized as Kajaran, K’ajaran, Qacaran, Kadjaran, and Kadzharan, formerly, Gajaran) is a city in the south of Armenia in the province of Syunik. The name translates from Armenian as "the place of the brave". It is located 356 km away from Yerevan, 25 km away from Kapan, the regional center, and 50 km from the border of Armenia and Iran. Qajaran forms an urban community (municipality). The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (ARMSTAT) reported its population was 8,498 in 2010, up from 8,439 at the 2001 census.
