Dombivli or Dombivali is a suburb in Thane district, Kalyan Taluka in Maharashtra, India. It is located about twenty kilometres from Thane and about fifty kilometres from the city of Mumbai. The population of the suburb, according to the 2011 census is 2,293,000,[citation needed]. It is an important suburb of Thane. The local community is known as Agri. They speak a language called Agri Bhasha. However, Agri bhasha is becoming more of extinct due to the rapid spread of the state language Marathi. The Agri community is either rich or poor. They were basically owning the land in and around dombivli. However, over the last 3 decades, they have sold their land to real estate companies, real estate builders for construction. Thus, they made money by selling land or developing houses and selling or giving on rent. The Agri community has a negligible presence and is a minority in dombivli; however, being the localities they hold huge sway over the political environment and real estate business in and around dombivli.
