Węgliniec (German: Kohlfurt) is a town in Zgorzelec County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district (gmina) called Gmina Węgliniec. Prior to 1945 it was in Germany and it was a major railroad junction, located on a strategic line from Wrocław to Görlitz and Dresden (for more information about the history of the region, see Silesia)
