Swords (from Irish: Sord Cholmcille) is the county town of Fingal in Ireland. It is about 13 km north of Dublin city centre and is part of its commuter belt. With a population of 42,738 it is the largest town in Ireland and is expected to gain city status in the near future. Fingal County Council have referred to Swords as an "Emerging City" and estimates that by 2035 Swords City will have a population of 100,000.
